The club was founded by journalists on the London Evening News in 1976 and now visits some of the most pleasant club and village grounds in the Home Counties. There are tours every year - to the Cotswolds in June, rural Derbyshire in early September, the delights of south-west France at the beginning of October, and other occasional destinations. All cricketers are welcome - you don’t have to be a journalist to join. Come and take a look inside...

Golf Day 2025

Autumn is upon us. The light in the leaf-strewn undergrowth beneath the trees at Hersham is dappled. Finding one’s wayward ball is challenging. But we gave it a good go.

There were no losers on the Strollers Golf Day, only winners. But the sleeve of balls to the least-winning participant went to Brad Trebilcock. Longest drive went to Tom Wood and Tom Salvesen was nearest the pin. There were eight winners with scores <=29.

Top 5:
Jonny Waugh 32
Alastair Macaulay 32
Simon West 33
Will Salvesen 38
Tom Salvesen 41

A tremendous effort from Tom, who bagged a pineapple (who needs another pitch mark repairer or towel?). Special mention goes to Jonny, whose 32 was scored off a handicap of four. And many happy returns to Dave Knight. A good turnout for an enjoyable day. We will do it again at Hersham next year provided it remains unsold.
